At Bella Legal Assistants, we specialize in providing bilingual legal assistants, fluent in English and Spanish, who are trained in immigration law. Our services are designed specifically for licensed immigration attorneys.

With 15 years of experience and 6 years in the market, our mission at Bella is to take the burden off your shoulders when it comes to hiring, training, and managing HR tasks. We were the first to offer trained virtual assistants for immigration attorneys, setting the standard in the industry.

Our legal assistants are either college students or graduates who undergo a thorough recruitment process. This includes background checks, online training, and in-office training at a real law firm before they are assigned to other law firms. They also have daily virtual meetings with our office manager, who reviews their work and provides feedback before it reaches the attorneys. Additionally, our assistants receive ongoing training and updates on changes in immigration laws and procedures.

Bella assistants are well-versed in various tasks such as application assembly, reception, data entry, client follow-up, and using different software programs for case management.

Bella Legal Assistants was founded by James Betzold, an immigration attorney, and Angela Betzold, a law office manager and chief paralegal. James started his solo practice after graduating from law school in 2009, and Angela, who immigrated from Colombia in 2006, has experienced the immigration process firsthand.

As business owners, James and Angela understand the challenges of starting and growing a law firm. One major challenge they faced was finding experienced, bilingual immigration assistants. They realized that many busy law firms didn't have the time to thoroughly recruit and train new employees.

Angela initially asked her bilingual sister in Colombia to help with data entry from home. After extensive training, she became their first virtual assistant in 2016. This success led James and Angela to open an office in Colombia, where they could find more bilingual individuals to train as legal assistants.

In January 2019, Bella Legal Assistants was born, starting with just one client and two assistants. By the end of the first year, we were serving attorneys in nine states. We are not serving Law Firms all around the United States and our Team continue to grow.

In 2020, we expanded our services to include case-by-case support and launched Bella University, a training resource for new immigration attorneys.
